Trying to design an invoice form for a client's Windows application. The spool file they sent from there system is unreadable in PP5 data selector. They also sent a PDF of the output but the data selector cannot read that either. If I use the hex viewer or notepad I can see the information in the SPL file including all the non-ascii characters. Any suggestions?

Hello,

A clean data file is usually obtained when printing to an output print queue that uses the Generic Text print driver and that has the advanced printing features disabled.

The Data selector needs a text file. What you probably have is a spool file printed through a Windows PCL printer driver that contains PCL commands. This is unsuitable for PlanetPress. You are never going to be able to use a PDF file in the PlanetPress data selector for the same reason - its not a text file.

As maltif says, to get data from a Windows APP into PlanetPress, you need to print through the Generic/Text Only driver. If you get problems with this you could try TextPrint from www.stg.com/textprint which is a rep[lacement for the MS generic driver. Again make sure you turn off the Advanced Printing Features.
